PowerPoint Tip - Insert Video in PowerPoint

How do you put video files in PowerPoint? Can you show a video in a PowerPoint presentation? The answer is yes! In fact, it is very simple.

Video files come in various formats. The formats that work well in PowerPoint are:

* AVI

* WMV

* MPG (or MPEG)

Before you begin, you need the video file and share in the same folder as the PowerPoint presentation. The reason for this is that if you move ever your presentation on another computer, video games, you probably do not. NotFollowing this advice is probably the reason # 1 does not play videos in PowerPoint.

Then, select Insert> Movies and Sounds> Movie from File. (In PowerPoint 2007, go to Insert tab> Media Editor Group> Movie.) From the dialog box, find and double-click the video file. (Note that "Video" and "film" mean the same thing.)

You will see a message asking whether you want the video to play automatically or when clicked. You choose depending on what you want. You can later change the option. The first imageThe video is on the slide.

You have some control over how the video in PowerPoint. Right-click on the video on the slide and select Edit Movie Object to open Movie Options dialog box. Select (In PowerPoint 2007, the video and click on the tab "Options" Movie tools. Most of the options are on the tab, but not all. Here's what you can do:

* Loop to see the video: Check the Loop Until Stopped check box.

* To see the video, if they do not play: Check the Hide while not playing hide check box.

* The video in full-screen zoom: Check to activate the Zoom to full screen / full screen playback. (This was a new feature inPowerPoint 2003.) This is expected to be low resolution.

If you change whether the video automatically or only when clicked to play, select Slide Show> Custom Animation (PowerPoint 2007, the Animations tab> Custom Animation) of the Custom Animation task pane opens:

* If you have decided to automatically play the video, you see two entries, the first is a start after setting back and the second has a trigger (the video itself) and a starting set of On Click. To change toto play, when to delete the item you clicked, which has a start after prior adjustment.

* If you play for the video, when clicked, you will only see the trigger and click Settings in the Start box. To automatically change the playback, click on the element of the down-arrow in the Custom Animation task pane and choose Timing. Under the trigger button, click on the Animate as part of the sequence, click on Options. In the same dialog box, set the startup to return to. Click OK. (Note that there may still beto play a slight delay after you slide before starting the video.)

You can find the video is too large, making it appropriate for the resolution of the screen or projector. This is useful if you have a computer or projector switch with a different resolution than the original computer that created the presentation. Follow these steps:

4. Check the best measure of the Slide Show check box.

--- --- Troubleshooting Video in PowerPoint
Sometimes videos do not play in PowerPoint. There may be a number of reasons:

* Videos are linked, not embedded. If your presentation, or send it to someone to move, you have the video file. The Package for CD feature can do for you.Choose File> Package for CD and use the Copy To Folder button. (Select in PowerPoint 2007, Office button> Publish> Package for CD.)

* If that is created, compressed video compression / decompression algorithms. These are called codecs for short. If your computer is not the codec that was used when the video was created, PowerPoint does not play the video.

* PowerPoint for the Mac play MOV (Quicktime) files, but PowerPoint for the PC. So, if thePresentations were created on the Mac, can not play the video because it is a MOV file.
